Physical Characteristics - The Red-tail Tree Racer is one of the most beautiful of large snakes. It has a long head that tapers toward the snout. The eyes have round pupils, and the slender, muscular body is somewhat compressed on the sides. A black line runs from the tip of the snout across the eyes and fades away on the side of the neck. The smooth scales are either uniformly green or green with black edges. The tail is yellowish-brown.
Length - Up to 7 1/2 feet.
Distribution and behavior - This snake is distrubuted in southeast Asia from the eastern Himalayas across Burma, Thailand, Laos, and Cambodia to South Vietnam and Malaya as well as on the Malaysian archipelago, and the Philippines. It prefers thickly wooded regions in wet valleys and along rivers.
