How do I stop my Alaskan Malamute from digging holes in my backyard?

Dear Malamute Owner,

There are several  ways you can stop that dog from digging up your yard.  First of all, be gentle when you talk to him let him know that he is loved and that you don't want to be arrested by the tree huggers association for digging up the almost extinct  earthworm.  If this doesn't seem to work duck tape your dogs paws together, you  know duck tape works real well.  I once used it to keep my bumper from falling off.  Anyway that should work.  Another thing you can do is rub his nose in the  hole, this seems to work when they pee on the floor.  I hope my expert advice  will work for you.
