The Anglo-Arab has an elegant head with a broad forehead, alert bold eyes, a straightish profile and well opened nostrils. Its neck is long and crested, its withers prominment, and the shoulders strong and sloping. Its back is muscular, and its tail is set on high and carried proudly like that of the Arab. The legs are fine and on the long side but the bone is very dense and hard, and the feet are well shaped.
The Anglo-Arab moves lightly, with great agility and suppleness. It is an excellent athlete that jumps well in arenas and across country, and performs dressage. It is an elegant, alert, sensitive animal which was very popular with the troops but is now used by French riders for all forms of equestrian competitions. Its sensitivity however implies a need for more skillful handling than the riding horse bred in the North of France.
