YORKSHIRE TERRIER

[Advertising Rates]

History - This breed does not look like a dog that would fall under the banner of a working class dog or a ratter, but it does.  This is a cross between several breeds of terriers to include - the  Waterside Terrier, Clydesdale Terrier, Paisley Terrier, rough-coated English  Black and Tan Terrier, and perhaps even the Skye Terrier, Dandie Dinmont Terrier, and Maltese.  In the 1880s the Yorkie came to America.  They have the most luxurious coats on a dog in existence today.  They have been a consistant  favorite among many pet owners and show fanciers alike.

Temperament - Eager for adventure.  Its busy, inquisitive, bold, stubborn and can be aggressive to strange dogs and  small animals.  It barks alot, but can be trained not to do so.

Upkeep - They exercise themselves within the home, but do not hesitate to take a run in the back yard.  This dog cannot  live outdoors.  It need brushing every other day to maintain the shiny coat.

Size - Not to exceed 7 pounds, 8-9 inches in height.
