WELSH TERRIER |
||||||||||
History - This scrappy terrier originated about 300 years ago in North Wales to hunt otter, fox, and badger and is still used on farms today to control vermin. Temperament - Welsh terriers are very loyal family companions with high energy levels. They are not as enthusiastic about strangers and will bark to announce their arrival. They are intelligent and do well in obedience training. Some Welsh terriers are happy to play with other dogs, cats as prey, though they may tolerate them if socialized with them at an early age. Welsh terriers can be possessive of some of their food bowls and toys. This dog has limitless energy to run and play. Upkeep - Welsh need to be brushed and combed twice a week and trimmed every three months. They have a lot of energy and need the chance to run and play in a secured area. Size - height 15-20 inches, weight 19-22 pounds. |
