ITALIAN GREYHOUND
History - Evidence of this dog dates back 2000 years from Turkey, Greece, and other areas around the Mediterranean. The breed came to England in the 1600s and became popular with nobility there as they had been in their Italian homeland. The toy Greyhound was almost wiped out during World War II. In the late 1800s the Italian Greyhound came to America.
Temperament - It shares the Greyhound shares the same characteristics with its larger relative. It loves to run and chase, extremely gentle and sensitive. Often timid with strangers and devoted to family and good with children, other dogs and pets.
Upkeep - It loves a daily run in the park, but it hates the cold. It loves to sprint. Care of the hair is minimal and requires brushing on occasion, but needs its teeth brushed on a regular basis.
Size - 7-14 pounds in both male and female, 13-15 inches from the shoulder.
