GIANT SCHNAUZER
History - The Giant Schnauzer originated in the country of Bavaria and Wurrtemburg. Cattlemen were impressed with the smaller Standard Schnauzer and sought to have it on a larger scale. Great Danes and Bouvier des Flanders cross breeding occured. This could also have happened between a black Poodle, Wolf Spitz and Wirehaired Pinscher have also been suggested as one of the breeds to create the Giant Schnauzer.
Temperament - Playful, rambunctious and may be too boisterous for small children, otherwise it is very good with children in its own family. It is a bold protector of the family.
Upkeep - This breed needs daily exercise and fun. It loves long hikes and walks and to run loose in a safe area. It likes to live in cool climates. It likes to go between yard and house. It needs to be combed about 2 times a week.
Size - The Giant Schnauzer can weigh up to 90 pounds. The height of the male is 25 1/2 to 27 1/2 at the shoulder. The female is 23 1/2 to 25 1/2 inches at the shoulder.
