Doberman Pinscher
History - The roots of this dog is obscure. The origin of the Doberman starts in Apolda, in Thueringen, Germany around 1890, the breed was officiall recognized in 1900. It takes its name from Louis Dobermann of Apolda. This dog is very alert, intelligent, agile and muscular. Many who look at the dog and guess the weight often miscalculate 10-20 pounds. It gives the impression of an aristocrat. The doberman may have a stern and inquisitive look about him but is very affectionate, obedient and loyal. Traditionally compounded of the old shorthaired shepherd-dog stock, with admixtures of Rotweiler, Black and Tan Terrier and the smooth-haired German Pinscher.
