BULLMASTIFF
History - The history of the Bullmastiff begins in 1860 in England. It is hard to prove, but many say that the history dates back to centuries. This an excellent watch dog and is the cross breed 60% Mastiff and 40% Bulldog. The Bullmastiff was recognized by the English Kennel Club as a pure-bred dog in 1924. In October, 1933, the American Kennel Club granted recognition to the Bullmastiff and has become a popular breed of dog across the country.
Characteristics: Dark colors are preferred by owners because of their lack of visibility at night while on watch. The black mask and densely colored ears were often inherited from the Mastiff. This dog is fearless, yet docile. It has great strength and powerfully built.
Size: Males are 25 - 27 inches at the shoulder, and 110 to 130 pounds. Females are 23-26 inches at the shoulder and 100 to 120 pounds in weight.
