History - The name implies a product of Belgium. Probably from the line of the Affenpinscher and the Belgian street dog. Later the breed was crossed with a Pug. The name Griffon means wiry. In the 1880s they were accepted in the Belgian dog shows. Temperament - This little dog is very self-confident and full of spunk. It is bold, playful, stubborn and mischievous. Usually good with other dogs and tends to bark at anything. It makes for an entertaining pet for a family who likes to be entertained. Upkeep - Very active, needs a lot of exercise. Enjoys short walks. Its rough coat needs brushed every 3 days. Size - Males and females can reach 8-10 pounds and reach heights of 7-8 inches. |
