History - This is really not an Australian breed, but it came to Amereica by way of Australia. Some say that this breed came to Australia from early settlers from Europe. The AKC recognized the breed in 1993. It is one of the most versatile of breeds, excelling at conformation, obedience, hearding, and agility competition. The Aussie is very well adapted to working cattle.
Temperament - Has great stamina, is loving, alert, bold, confident, independent, smart, and responsive. If it doesn't get a chance to exercise and challenge its strongly developed mental and physical activities, it is apt to become frustrated and difficult to live with. It may try to herd small children and animals by nipping at their heels.
Upkeep - This breed needs a big workout everyday. It prefers physical and mental challenges. This breed needs regular human contact. It can live in temperate to hot climates. Its coat needs brushing everyday.
Size - Males can reach up to 65 pounds, and females 55 pounds. Heights can reach from 21" -23".
