MANX

It is difficult to think of the Isle of Man, located in the Irish Sea off the coast of England, without being reminded of the tailless cat so closely identified with this scenic place. Fanciful theories about the origin of the Manx run rampant, adding to the mystique of this unusual cat, which is so revered that it appears on a British coin. Yet no one knows how or when the Manx arrived on the Isle of Man. A logical explanation is that a Spanish ship with tailless cats on board foundered on Spanish Rock, which is close to the Manx shore.  The cats swam to the rock and from there to the island at low tide.
